PHOTOGRAPHY FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

PHOTOGRAPHY FAQ`S

1) How much should I plan to spend on photography?
We have many different packages and represent over 20 of the area`s top wedding photographers.  Our prices range anywhere from $1695-$5500 depending on the photographer and your specific needs.  However, we can also customize our photography to fit your budget.

2) What format are the proofs?
You will receive all the images taken online and on a CD and you will then choose from the CD the images to be printed in a hard bound proof book with 6 images per page printed front and back and a custom cover with images. Depending on your package the magazine will be either 8x10 (Deluxe) or 10x13 (Grande & Fantasy).

3) Do I have to pay extra for black and white pictures?
Black and white is no additional cost (up to 11x14 prints).  You may choose to have some of your images in the proof magazine printed in black & white. Also, you may have color proofs printed in black and white as reprints. Sepia and black & white with touch of color and hand coloring available by request for an additional charge.

4) Can I purchase my high resolution digital files?
Yes, typically we offer the originals three years after the event. You may also add the high resolution digital files to your original contract for an additional fee.

5) Can I view my proofs online?
Yes you can! All the images shot at the wedding will be available online directly from our website approximately 4-6 weeks from your wedding.  You will need a password (maiden name) that you may share with family and friends and everyone is able to order any additional finished prints directly from the site for 90 days! Upon request, cards will be placed at your reception with this information for guests to take home with them. Ask about our credit/cash back incentive program where you can earn free products or cash for every online order from your gallery.

6) Do I get to choose my photographer?
We represent over 20 of the best wedding photographers from Pittsburgh, and throughout the tristate area.  After selecting a wedding date, we will be able to determine which photographers are available on your date.  An appointment with one of our wedding consultants is recommended so you can view the photographers` portfolios. Most of our packages allow you to choose the photographer of your choice. Check out our High Resolution Package that allows Big Day to appoint the photographer we feel best suits your photography needs and pass a discount on to you.

7) Do I get to pick my album and the pictures that go in it?
Absolutely, you have complete control over what is included in your album. We also offer consultations with our designers to assist you for an additional fee. All coffee table albums come with the design service at no extra charge.

8) Can I speak to or meet my photographer?
Normally, our photographers will call you a week before your wedding.  That is when you will go over the final details to make certain everything will be covered.  If you would like to speak to your photographer before that time, you can let your consultant know and they can arrange for a phone consultation.

9) Do I need an appointment to view photography at Big Day Photography?
It is a good idea to make an appointment to meet with one of our wedding consultants to go over your photography needs and budget.  You will be able to ask your questions and get the one-on-one service that you deserve when choosing a photographer. We are available during regular business hours and we are also available by appointment on evenings and weekends. You can also view all the photographers` portfolios on our website.  See "Photography-Samples".

10) Do I have input into what shots the photographer will take on my wedding day?
If you choose Big Day Photography, you will download a photography information packet or a "Shot Sheet" from our website (see information packet from the photography tab) which will help us determine what specific shots you want. Although no shot is ever guaranteed, our photographers are well experienced in weddings and know what shots are most common and requested. If there is something specific that you would like the photographer to capture, you can make note of that on the information sheet.  The Photographer will contact you to go over the details and to make sure they are well prepared.
