VIDEOGRAPHY FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

VIDEOGRAPHY FAQ`S

1) How much does it cost?
We have four different packages plus other optional services and the prices range anywhere from $1,295-3995, depending on your budget and what level of service you desire.

2) Are your prices affordable?
Our prices are very competitive and we do over 300 weddings a year, as we are the largest video producer in the tri-state area.  All video companies are not created equal.  When shopping for a video service, it is essential to compare the quality of work that they produce.  You may be paying less for a service but in turn, you may be receiving less in quality.  It is a good idea to compare the quality of work to the price you are paying for the product.

3) What are the real differences between the silver and the gold packages? (See Video Packages)
The main difference between the two packages is that with the gold package you will receive a lot more video coverage.  When you view the final edited DVD, it`s like watching a movie.  You may get the same shot from two different angles.  For example: While one camera is shooting the best man`s speech, the other camera can be getting reaction shots from the bride and groom.  Or, when guest interviews are being conducted by one videographer, the other one will be able to capture the excitement on the dance floor.  And, when one videographer stays with the bride and groom after the ceremony going to the remote location of their choice, the other videographer will head to the reception where they can get shots of the cocktail hour and guests arriving.  For all of the bells and whistles and a unique look at your wedding, the gold package is usually recommended for weddings with over 200 guests. For the best in all packages check out our Platinum package for the ultimate in wedding videography!

4) Do I get to choose my own music for my edited DVD?
Absolutely.  You get to choose from a list of music that we provide and if we don`t have what you want, you can certainly supply your own CD for us to use.

5) Do I get to keep my raw footage if I have it edited?
Yes!  Four to six weeks after your wedding, you will be able to pick up your raw footage on DVD. This is yours to keep. You then view your raw footage and give us your input on editing your video by filling out an edit form and returning it to our office.

6) Do you have anything for someone who doesn`t really have a budget for video but really wants to have video?
Yes, Big Day Video offers a Video in Training package for clients that don`t have the budget to have one of our professional videographer`s shoot their event.  The purpose of our video in training program is to teach our newly hired videographers how to shoot a wedding and other special events.  Since these newly hired videographers are not considered "Professional Videographers" by Big Day standards, we offer our clients the opportunity to have their wedding documentated at a much lower price.  This creates a win-win for you, the client, by not having one of your family members work all day to tape your event, and in turn, Big Day is able to give the new videographer on-the-job training.

7) Can I view any of your sample video packages?  Do I need an appointment?
Absolutely!  You can call Big Day Video at (412) 566-2900 to speak to one of our wedding consultants.  You could set up an appointment to come into our center to watch some sample video clips from actual weddings Big Day Video has done.  We are available during regular business hours and evenings and weekends by appointment.

8) Can I get my wedding on a DVD?
Yes, DVD is now included in all of our packages.

9) Can I get my wedding DVD authored?
Yes, we typically include between 8 and 12 chapter markers depending on the number of highlights on your big day. This service is now included in all our full day edited packages.

10) Can I get extra copies of my wedding video?
Absolutely, you can order as many copies as you would like.

11) Do I have input in the editing process?
We have very experienced editors who know how to edit your Big Day and turn it into a beautiful and moving presentation.  However, you will receive an information sheet with your raw footage.  You will be able to comment on certain footage you may want to be edited out, or on something you definitely want to keep in your edited video.  You won`t need to select every shot but you`ll be able to help the editors to ensure that your video is digitally edited to your preferences.

12) Do you have high definition packages?
Yes, we now offer special packages for shooting and editing in high definition upon request. It is important to realize that you must have a Blu Ray Disc Player to play your edited HD DVD. If looking at other video companies make sure you ask if they have the ability and equipment to produce the final DVD on Blu Ray. It is possible to shoot and edit in HD but still produce a standard DVD which will not give you the HD quality that Blu Ray will.

13) What are the qualifications of a videographer in training?
They typically have just graduated from college or technical school with a degree in video production.  Some have extensive shooting experience from working at a television station or video production company but just don`t have the experience of shooting a wedding.  Videographers in training have different levels of experience.  Unfortunately, we can`t predict the outcome of the final product for your video since there is a great deal involved in learning to shoot a wedding, however, as they are being judged on their shooting, they will be working their hardest to shoot the wedding to the best of their ability.
